Christ the King School is a smaller than average sized primary school situated in the pleasant market town of Thornbury. The school was opened in 1969 when the town underwent large scale development.
Our school has a ‘family community’ feel to it and has a distinctive Catholic identity. We believe that our ethos is largely responsible for making our school an exceptionally caring and strong learning environment. Our pupils come from a variety of backgrounds and faiths and they all share the values of the school.
“Making a difference for all by inspiring a love of learning”
A very warm welcome to our school website which we hope will give you a flavour of what the children are experiencing in our school as well as providing you with any information you may need.
Our school community is a strong, vibrant one where children are well supported by a dedicated, strong team of teachers and teaching assistants, our local Parish and by the surrounding community. We hope you will experience the words of our Mission Statement as a reality and how we strive to make a difference. Christ the King is a Catholic school and we believe that every child is unique and possesses God given gifts.
Children are very happy in our school and enjoy learning. Our children treat everyone in our school community, and beyond, with kindness and respect. They learn in a positive climate that fosters self-esteem, where all children are valued and where learning is fun, but engaging and challenging. We believe in encouraging our children to become confident in their abilities so that they can use their gifts to the full. With our children at the centre of all that we do, we aim to foster a love of learning and a sense of belonging and responsibility to our school, parish and the wider community in which we live.
Through our website, we aim to provide a high degree of communication between school, parents and the community. When you open the pages, you will find detailed information about our school and samples of children’s work. We hope you find this site useful and enjoy this glimpse of life at Christ the King.
