OUR GOVERNING BODY

The primary role of the Full Governing Body (FGB) is to work in partnership with the Head Teacher and School Leadership Team to maximise the learning opportunities for all the pupils and to implement the School Development Plan.

Governing Body Composition

The formal Instrument of Governance provides for 12 Governors which consists of:
  • 7 Foundation Governors appointed by the Bishop of Clifton Diocese;
  • 1 Local Authority appointed Governor;
  • 2 Parent Governors; proposed and elected by parents and carers of children at the school;
  • 1 Staff Governor proposed and elected by staff at the school;
  • 1 Head Teacher ;
The term of office for each Governor is 4 years from date of appointment or election. Governors are selected based on their skills and experience.

Foundation Governors are appointed by the Bishop of Clifton and represent the Bishop. They are appointed specifically to ensure:
  • that the religious character of the school is preserved;
  • that the school is conducted in accordance with its trust deed;
  • that the religious education curriculum is in accordance with the Bishop's policy for his diocese. (Schemes of work should be based on the curriculum directory).
Once in place, each Governor plays a full and equal part in the running and management of the school. Nobody is there to represent their particular group. Not all Governors have an educational background, however, they bring experience and expertise from their home and work lives which the school find invaluable.

Our Governing Body is split into 3 sub-committees - Resources, Learning & Leading and Mission & Vision. Please click here to find out more about each sub-committee and their responsibilities.
