Hello, and welcome to Jupiter Class. The children have made a fantastic start to the new school year. All have returned keen to learn and ready for the challenges that lie ahead. They have all matured and become so independent in their learning and are particularly excited about having their own lockers!
Jupiter is a mixed class of year 3 and year 4 children. I hope you find the information about our class useful.
Topic: our topic for Terms 1 and 2 is The Amzazing America's. In geography we will look at North and South America and in history study the ancient Mayans. For further information on our learning plans for terms 1 and 2, please click here to view our learning web.
PE: will be on a Monday afternoon so please ensure PE kits are in school. After Easter we will also be going swimming. More information on that will be sent closer to the start date.
Reading Books: reading is very important as it helps the children in all subjects, not just Literacy. Please can reading books be bought to school every day and kept in their bags. If a book needs changing, please place them in the blue box in the class room.
PPA: this term PPA (which is a Tuesday afternoon) is Computing. The children will be looking at e-Safety so they have a good understanding of how they can stay safe whilst using technology. They will also be doing lots of work preparing for the OnLine Homework which will start towards the end of Term 2.
Homework: homework is handed out on a Friday afternoon and due in the following Monday (10 days later). We recommend 15minutes reading each day, of a variety of texts. Children will be given spellings, a maths task and an English/ Topic task.
How you can help: encourage your child to read regularly and discuss their books with you, write a comment in their reading record and make sure this comes to and from school with your child. Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep, also promote exercise and a healthy lifestyle. Help your child by allowing them to bring a bottle into school so they can stay hydrated during lessons.
As always, if you do have any further questions regarding our topic, your child’s learning or a general query, then please do not hesitate to come and speak with me.
